Rustic or elegant, autumn weddings are spectacular!
As September winds down there is a noticeable shift, the sun casts long, romantic shadows, the sweet woodsy scent of drying leaves fills the air, and the evenings become cool and crisp. After a hot and humid Kentucky summer, this is a perfect time for a celebration! Naturally, September, October, and November are popular months for weddings.
For many, the season invokes images of pumpkins and gourds, corn fodder, and colorful leaves. In the right setting, these items are wonderful as wedding decorations. With the popularity of barn weddings, vineyards, and rustic cabins along with the natural beauty of Kentucky in the fall, this combination is a match made in Heaven! Potted chrysanthemums, Indian corn, winter squash, dried grasses, and bittersweet can all be used to maximum effect as décor in rustic autumn weddings. They can effectively stretch the decorating budget too! These elements can be just as artful and beautiful in more elegant settings as well. White pumpkins are subtle yet evocative of the season, and combine well with gold accents, candlelight, and classic bridal flowers.
The photos that accompany this post display the range of aesthetics that can be achieved in fall weddings. Three of the brides chose to fully embrace classic autumn colors and flowers, two of them loved ‘Firewalker’ sunflowers and carried them in their bridal bouquets. One chose classic bridal white for all of her flowers along with heavy use of gray-green silver dollar eucalyptus and the subtle warmth of gold accents.
Regardless of the style you choose for your wedding, I hope you’re inspired by the myriad of options available to you during this beautiful season!
